Dr Gautam is an ophthalmic consultant and Director Sarvdrishti Eye Hospital Pvt Ltd. He did his MBBS course from Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical college Jamshedpur. He was awarded Mahatma Gandhi Gold medal in his Second year professional examination during his MBBS course. After completing his MBBS he went to pursue MD course in Ophthalmology at apex institute of this country, Dr Rajendra Prasad centre for ophthalmic sciences , AIIMS New Delhi. After completing his MD course he had intensive training in the field of Cataract and Glaucoma during his three years of senior residency In AIIMS New Delhi.

He has more than 15 indexed publications in different international journals as main author as well as co author.

His main area of interests is micro incision Cataract surgery in difficult cases, paediatric cataracts, and filtration surgeries in Glaucoma cases
