Cloudy or dim vision
One common reason is a cataract (मोतियाबिंद), where the lens inside the eye turns cloudy. It is more likely as people get older. Other eye problems can look similar, so a proper check comes first.
Next step: Book an eye check. The doctor looks at the lens with a slit lamp and tells you what is causing it.
A child's eyes not looking straight
When one eye turns in, out, up or down, it is called a squint (भेंगापन). In children it can lead to a lazy eye if it is left alone, so it is worth getting it checked early.
Next step: Bring your child in for an eye check. Depending on what the doctor finds, glasses, patching or an operation may help.
Living with diabetes
Diabetes can damage the retina (आँख का पर्दा) at the back of the eye, often before you notice any change in your sight. That is why people with diabetes are asked to have their retina checked regularly.
Next step: Book a retina check. You may get drops that widen the pupil and blur your vision for a few hours, so come with someone and do not drive back.
Wanting to be free of glasses
For people with high power or a thin cornea, an ICL may be an option. It is a thin lens placed inside the eye. Not everyone is suitable, and that can only be decided after your eyes are measured.
Next step: Book a check-up for ICL. The doctor measures your eyes and tells you honestly whether it suits you.
A baby born early
Babies born early can develop ROP, a problem with the blood vessels of the retina. It does not show from outside, so the eyes need to be screened by an eye doctor.
Next step: Ask your baby's doctor when the eye screening is due, then call us to book it.
Glaucoma or eye pressure in the family
A family history of glaucoma (काला मोतिया) raises your own risk. Glaucoma often gives no early warning, and the damage it causes cannot be reversed, so regular checks matter.
Next step: Book a glaucoma check. It includes an eye pressure test and a look at the optic nerve.
Same daySudden flashes, floaters or a shadow
Sudden flashes of light, a shower of new floaters, or a dark curtain over part of your vision can mean the retina (आँख का पर्दा) is pulling away. This needs to be seen by a doctor the same day.
Next step: Call the branch now and tell them what you are seeing.
A red, watery or painful eye
This can come from many things, including an infection or injury of the cornea, the clear front of the eye. If it hurts, or your sight drops, do not wait it out.
Next step: Book a visit. If it started after an injury, call the branch first.

The lens inside the eye turns cloudy, usually with age. A short operation replaces it, and most people go home the same day.
Infections, ulcers, injuries, keratoconus and scars on the clear front window of the eye, up to corneal transplant.
Slow damage to the eye's nerve, often from high eye pressure. There are usually no early signs, so regular checks matter.

One eye does not learn to see sharply. Glasses and patching work best when started early in childhood.

Sarvdrishti means sight for everyone. The hospital was started in 2018 by eye surgeons who trained at AIIMS, New Delhi. Their aim was simple: eye care of that standard, at a cost an ordinary family in Bihar can manage, without travelling far for it.
