- Retinal Detachment
Retinal detachment is a serious eye condition where the retina – the light-sensitive tissue at the back of the eye – gets separated from its natural position. Since the retina is responsible for sending visual signals to the brain, this separation can cause blurred vision, flashes of light, or even permanent vision loss if not treated on time.
At Sarvdrishti Eye Hospital our experienced retina specialists provide advanced diagnostics and surgical treatment for retinal detachment, helping restore and protect your eyesight.
If you have Retinal Detachment you may observe

At Sarvdrishti Eye Hospital we use advanced vision screening and diagnostic equipment to detect retinal problems at an early stage.
Retinal detachment is a sight-threatening condition that requires immediate medical attention. If left untreated, it can lead to permanent vision loss.

Injecting air or gas into your eye In this procedure, called pneumatic retinopexy (RET-ih-no-pek-see), the surgeon injects a bubble of air or gas into the center part of the eye (the vitreous cavity). If positioned properly, the bubble pushes the area of the retina containing the hole or holes against the wall of the eye, stopping the flow of fluid into the space behind the retina.

Indenting the surface of your eye. This procedure, called scleral (SKLAIR-ul) buckling, involves the surgeon sewing (suturing) a piece of silicone material to the white of your eye (sclera) over the affected area. This procedure indents the wall of the eye and relieves some of the force caused by the vitreous tugging on the retina.

Draining and replacing the fluid in the eye. In cases of retinal detachment, a surgical procedure called vitrectomy may be performed to repair the retina and restore proper vision. During this operation, the ophthalmic surgeon carefully removes the vitreous gel — the clear, jelly-like substance that fills the center of the eye — along with any scar tissue or membranes that are pulling on the retina. Once the vitreous is removed, the surgeon injects a special substance, such as air, gas, or silicone oil, into the vitreous cavity to gently press the retina back into its proper position. This procedure helps the retina reattach and heal, preventing further vision loss and improving the chances of restoring clear sight.
